UMMED HAVELI, JODHPUR
Ummed Haveli is an inimitable red stone structure which was once home to nobility who built it over two hundred years ago in Pokhran, a tiny town in western Rajasthan. With a passion for preserving the rich architectural heritage of the region, its current owners took up the challenging task of relocating the Haveli from Pokhran where it stood abandoned to Jodhpur to give it a new life and make it a part of today’s living heritage experience. The Haveli was dismantled piece by piece and, with much patience, rebuilt from scratch in its new location over a period of four years, while retaining its original charm and aesthetics.
This labour of love has created a unique experience fit for modern-day royalty, where yesteryears' intricate carvings and attention to detail create an awe-inspiring ambience complemented by all twenty-first-century comforts and amenities. The Haveli houses five generously sized super deluxe rooms which serve as private apartments for guests with private lobbies at both levels. Apart from the rooms, there is the Darikhana, which is used as a dining area for sumptuous Rajasthani meals from the attached kitchen. The attentive butlers would be happy to set up a local board game of ‘Chopar’ or cards while you lounge in the lush gardens adorned by several peacocks.
